A rating of 4 or 5 would be a good choice for high-traffic areas. Carpets in the 2.5 to 4 range are predicted to give normal durability. And anything below 2.5 should be chosen for low-traffic areas like bedrooms. Not all manufacturers provide the numerical rating. But it’s a good place to start, for those that do.
